Everyone knows how important it is to brush your teeth often. This is one of the most important things when it comes to oral care. However, in addition to brushing your teeth it is also important that you eat foods that will keep your teeth clean and healthy. Here are a couple foods to eat that you may not have known were good for your oral health.

1. Carrots and Apples

Carrots and apples are one of the best things to use to clean your teeth if you don't have a toothbrush around. This is because the consistency of the apples and carrots has enough grain on them that it will push the bacteria and plaque off your teeth. If you have an apple or carrot with your meal try waiting till the end to eat it. This will keep your teeth clean without having to brush your teeth after the meal.

2. Lemons

Most people don't realize that lemons are great for not only cleaning off your teeth but they are a natural whitener. However, you should be careful about leaving the lemon juice on your teeth for too long since the acid could damage the teeth, but letting your teeth soak in lemon for a short period of time can help to keep your teeth white. Plus, the citrus in lemons is very good for the digestive system.

3. Coconut Oil

Another great thing is to use coconut oil on your teeth. This is known as oil pulling. It is very helpful in keeping your teeth white as well as helping to clean off the plaque. It should never be used as a substitute for brushing your teeth, since it is not as good at removing bacteria, but it can pull off discoloration.

4. Water

Drinking more water is good for every part of your body. If you are trying to be healthier, you should first add more water to your diet. The best thing to do is to drink water after you eat anything. The water will help to neutralize the acid in your mouth from all the food. One of the reasons that you get cavities is because the pH in your mouth isn't balanced.

Second, the water will help to rinse off any food or residue in your teeth. This will protect your teeth and keep your body healthy.
