You will likely experience some pain, swelling, and bleeding as your mouth heals from having wisdom teeth extracted. Because of this, you shouldn't eat any solid foods or drink alcohol and hot beverages for a few days after your surgery. Instead, you should focus on drinking plenty of water and enjoying soft foods that won't irritate your teeth or gums as you heal. Following are a couple of smoothie recipes you can make and drink during the first few days after surgery to keep yourself fueled without inhibiting the healing process:

Tropical Berry Smoothie

Not only is this flavorful smoothie easy to make, but it will also help keep your teeth bright and healthy while you're healing from surgery. The strawberries in this smoothie are full of astringents that help remove surface stains, and the vitamin C found in them clears plaque away. This smoothie's light texture won't stick to your teeth, which should make it easy to rinse your mouth clean after eating. You'll need the following ingredients to make one large meal-sized serving:

  • 1 banana cut into large chunks

  • 6 fresh or frozen strawberries

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple chunks

  • ¼ cup coconut milk

  • 1 cup water

Just place everything in your blender and mix on medium setting until smooth and creamy. Transfer the mixture to a large glass – the leftovers will stay fresh in the fridge for a few hours if you want to save some for a snack later.

Sweet and Tangy Mango Lassi

This traditional Indian drink doubles as a filling meal any time of day thanks to the creamy yogurt that's incorporated into it. If you have any leftover mango lassi, you can put it in the freezer for a few hours to create a frozen dessert for the afternoon. Here is what you need to make a batch:

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen mango chunks

  • 8 ounces plain or vanilla yogurt

  • ½ cup dairy, soy, or nut milk

  • 2 tsp honey

  • 1 tsp ground cardamom

  • 1 cup ice cubes

Put everything except the ice cubes in your blender and mix on high until smooth and well combined. Add the ice cubes and pulse the mixture until the ice breaks down and is no longer visible. Pour the drink into glasses right away and enjoy.

These recipes are so tasty that your whole family will probably want to try them, so buy plenty of ingredients the day before oral surgery, so you don't run out while you're healing.
